Let's face it, GUI is such a pain for the developers and the users. It might be because of the different hundred manufactures who deliberately wants to create GUI libraries different from others making it hard to have any amount of compatibility with other systems.

User interface was not a thing when the first computer came. Once the computers had enough processing power eventually users wanted to interact  with the computers without having to re-program. This was meant to make people life easier and standard without wanting to rewrite using a hacky code.

There are few iterations of User Interfaces so far..

and people continue to develop different User Interfaces to make people life user. So in the future something we might expect something like Hologram UI? Telepathic UI?

GUI are our primary interface to any computer for most of computer related domains for some decades. From Personal Computers to Embedded chips, GUI is more spread than any of the user interface schemes. But it doesn't mean that it is going to stay forever. It is just an elaborate intermediate phase. So moving forward, I am going to post content that is general to UI but not specific to a type a UI.
